I know there are a lot of RPG people who watch me here, so if you're interested in custom miniatures, check out my team's Kickstarter here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/h…

We've been amazed at the support of the tabletop community pushing us to two-thirds of our goal in just two days, so fingers crossed I get to do more work with this awesome group of people!

Just a quick note to say I'll be at Comic-con Saturday and part of Sunday - as usual, if people want to meet up, drop me a line or comment and I'll do my best in all the madness! :)
If any of you guys are interested in watching video capture of how I paint in PS and Painter, I did a tutorial that's on the DVD for this issue. Hope people find it useful!
My new site's up at www.artofnicolecardiff.com , with a visual walkthrough for "In Port" at www.artofnicolecardiff.com/wal… . Let your fingers do the clicking!
Continuing to update my scraps section with my weekend speedpaints.

My site should be updated this weekend with some new work, and as always, the newest Norrath cards are already up over there. If anyone's interested in commissions, I'm open - the FAQ I have up at www.artofnicolecardiff.com/faq… will answer most basic questions, but I'm happy to answer any others by email or note.

Couldn't remember if I'd ever linked my Twitter profile from here - if anyone's interested, it's at twitter.com/ncardiff .

Over and out!
I'm putting up some of my sketches from my environments class in scraps - hopefully somebody'll find them interesting!

FAQ

Will you paint me something for free?

No, I absolutely will not paint you something for free. This does include working on spec and/or royalties as well. Notes and emails sent about unpaid work will be marked as spam and deleted without a response. I strongly encourage those who are sending me these requests to read www.no-spec.com/archives/i-wis… and the wealth of other articles on No!Spec about how this is an inappropriate practice.

Can I license your existing work?

As long as a piece belongs solely to me, (check the description underneath the individual piece to see) I am certainly open to licensing. Please send me an email denoting your desired usage, and I'll be happy to discuss prices. I will not license pieces for royalties either.

Can I repost your work on my website?

So long as you give me credit for it, it's a non-profit site, and the image you're seeking to use is not copyright to one of the companies I've worked for (check the credits beneath to see), sure. I'd appreciate a link back to my main site, if possible. However, please do not hotlink to my site - instead, host the images yourself.

How do you work?

Most often, I will scan a sketch and paint digitally, using Photoshop CS 2 and Painter IX. I use a lot of the hard round brush in PS and marker brush in Painter for blocking in, and then various texture brushes in PS with the round camelhair and blender in Painter for final touches. Check thegryph.deviantart.com/art/Ce… for the tutorial I made.

I have a different question!

Please read the full FAQ at www.artofnicolecardiff.com/faq… - I've reproduced the four most common questions in order here, but there are many, many more answered over there.

Anybody interested in head/shoulder character paintings for $50? I notice a lot of my buddies are doing them, and I've had a lull in work lately, so I thought I'd gauge interest around these parts.

Payment would be by Paypal, 50% up front, 50% on completion.

Let me know!

Well, I thought it'd been up enough times, but since I got the fourth note this month about free work, it clearly needs to return. I apologize to the people who've already heard this stuff a million times.

Remember, US citizens, go exercise your civic responsibilities and vote today. This is particularly important, not just for swing state voters, but for voters in California, Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and South Dakota, all of whom have important decisions to make about their state propositions.

I will be at San Diego Comic-con Saturday and part of Sunday. I'm definitely going to go watch the Greg Manchess demo on Sunday - that man has to be one of the greatest living illustrators, and I'm very excited to see him work.

Not sure what day I'll be at SIGGRAPH, but I'll let you guys know. There's a possibility that there will be an Expose book signing there, but the dates/times are still up in the air.

So apparently my site didn't send renewal notifications to the correct email (or bother to call or snail-mail) so my domain's been bought out by some domain squatters in Taiwan. This means I'll be switching over to artofnicolecardiff.com. I may possibly be able to get my normal domain back in 2009, but I'm not really holding my breath. In the interim, email's going to go through my thegryph @ gmail . com account. Hopefully everything will be straightened out shortly, and I can go back to business as usual.
