FAQ

Will you paint me something for free?

No, I absolutely will not paint you something for free. This does include working on spec and/or royalties as well. Notes and emails sent about unpaid work will be marked as spam and deleted without a response. I strongly encourage those who are sending me these requests to read [link] and the wealth of other articles on No!Spec about how this is an inappropriate practice.

Can I license your existing work?

As long as a piece belongs solely to me, (check the description underneath the individual piece to see) I am certainly open to licensing. Please send me an email denoting your desired usage, and I'll be happy to discuss prices. I will not license pieces for royalties either.

Can I repost your work on my website?

So long as you give me credit for it, it's a non-profit site, and the image you're seeking to use is not copyright to one of the companies I've worked for (check the credits beneath to see), sure. I'd appreciate a link back to my main site, if possible. However, please do not hotlink to my site - instead, host the images yourself.

How do you work?

Most often, I will scan a sketch and paint digitally, using Photoshop CS 2 and Painter IX. I use a lot of the hard round brush in PS and marker brush in Painter for blocking in, and then various texture brushes in PS with the round camelhair and blender in Painter for final touches. Check [link] for the tutorial I made.

I have a different question!

When I saw the cover of "Robert Jordan"'s new Wheel of Time book on Monday night at work, I looked at it, frowned, and said aloud to no one, "Nicole could've done this like 10,000 times better! :angered:"

...do not get me started on my ranting regarding who F/SF book ADs use and don't use. The prevalence of the Buffy the Vampire Shagger butt photos ALONE should count as a war crime against eyeballs everywhere.

Heh, I'm flattered that you'd say so! (Willing to bet you're pretty far above my pay grade...) Shoot me an email and I'll be happy to exchange brain-pickings with you. You can see some of the new work I've done over at [link] and [link] that I'm not allowed to post on DA (some conflict with the TOS or something.)
